Support for children in aftermath of Chile earthquake

Child friendly spaces to be set up in Cauquenes

With the loss of homes, schools and loved ones, children are amongst the most vulnerable in the aftermath of an earthquake. As well as more immediate medical issues, the psychological trauma of separation, bereavement and disruption can be most keenly felt amongst the young.

Save the Children, currently on the ground in Cauquenes, hopes to combat this by setting up child friendly spaces where children can play and socialize, while longer term psychological damage can be assessed and families can go about the difficult process of recovery and rebuilding.

Global Health TV speaks to Adam Berthoud, Emergency Advisor with the charity.
