An increase is seen in younger people with the disease

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a debilitating, life-threatening progressive lung disease that interferes with normal breathing. COPD is thought of as an older person's disease but up to 70% of patients with COPD are under 65 years of age. The prevalence of COPD is increasing in younger age groups, particularly women.
