2009 AIDS event offers hope to Haiti
26th AIDS Candlelight Memorial holds its official ceremony in troubled Caribbean state
With poor infrastructure and poverty the Caribbean nation of Haiti has been struggling since long before the recent earthquake. With life expectancy around 50 years and the majority of the population living on $US2 a day, AIDS, infant and maternal mortality and malaria are common problems. In 2009 Cap Haitian, Haiti was chosen as the site of the official ceremony to mark the 26th AIDS Candlelight Memorial. Global Health TV was there, along with the Prime Minister and partners from around the world, and saw that the country was making progress in tackling its HIV/AIDS problem.Send Video to friend
