World Vision makes climate change plea
Climate change could be playing a part in children suffering from malaria, malnutrition and diarrhoea, a new study has suggested.
World Vision's Climate Change Threats to Health outlines the dangers posed by these issues and states that health leaders may not be doing enough to safeguard youngsters around the world from them.
According to the report, rising temperatures brought on by climate change are likely to lead to further spread of malaria.
The study indicated that the disease moving into a previously untouched area would represent a "catastrophic effect".
In response, World Vision recommends that strong emission targets should be put in place by world leaders in a bid to prevent this from happening.
The group also says that more funding is needed to tackle health issues and more focus is needed on aiding children in developing nations.
World leaders are meeting in Copenhagen this week to discuss climate change and its effects.
