Ugandan Ebola threat recedes
The outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the Ugandan district of Bundibugyo has receded, according to a senior health official.
No deaths have been recorded from the disease in the past four days and just one patient remains in isolation, Sam Okware, chairman of the National Task Force for Ebola, told Xinhua.
However, he warned that it was too early to confirm that the outbreak of the potentially fatal fever had been contained.
"We have to continue to be vigilant. It is too early to say we have contained the disease," Mr Okware told the website.
"We expect a few more sporadic cases here and there but if we don't get any other new case by January 12th then we would have contained the disease," he added.
According to Ugandan government figures, the latest outbreak of Ebola infected 135 people, of whom 36 have died.
