New vice president for Mental Health America

Mental Health America has announced its new vice president of healthcare reform.

The non-profit organisation has revealed that Julie Clark will take over the role, heading the department which develops policies to help combat health issues across the US.

Ms Clarke is leaving her current role in the Office of Disability Employment Policy at the US Department of Labour.

According to the organisation, she received the Exceptional Achievement Award from the secretary of labour in 2006.

David Shern, president of Mental Health America, said: "Julie will be an outstanding addition to our team.

"Her leadership and extensive background in mental health and disability issues and knowledge of both federal and state healthcare policy will be invaluable in our advocacy and policy efforts."

Mental Health America has over 320 affiliates across the US and is the leading organisation dedicated to helping people across the country to lead "mentally healthier lives".
