New guidance on malaria released
New guidance on the ways that malaria can be stopped has been released on behalf of the Malaria Elimination Group.
Countries and policy makers have been informed of the new information by the Global health Group of UCFS Global Health Sciences.
Sir Richard Feachem, director of the Global Health Group and chair of the Malaria Elimination Group, said that the new documents would provide guidance in an area that has not been concentrated on enough by the international community in the past.
"Much of the world's attention has rightly focused on controlling malaria and reducing deaths caused by the disease," he stated.
"However, 39 countries around the world have embarked on the next step of elimination in the pursuit of eventual global eradication. They deserve our full support and encouragement."
There are two official publications being launched, called Shrinking The Malaria Map: A Prospectus on Malaria Elimination and Shrinking the Malaria Map: A Guide on Malaria Elimination for Policy Makers.
