Liberia struggling in malaria war
Liberia has claimed that it is struggling in the fight against malaria.
Health officials in the African country have said that it is "losing the war" with the disease, allafrica.com reported.
It is claimed by a National Malaria Control Programs (NMCP) study that 53 per cent of homes in the country do not have access to bed nets.
Tolbert Nyweysuah, acting director of the NMCP, told the news provider: "We cannot really be able to put a stop to malaria in the county. As you know, mosquitoes which causes the sickness lives every where among us in this society."
He added that women and children are most at risk from the disease.
Further recent research has shown that malaria accounts for more than 70 per cent of child deaths in the nation and the situation has reached endemic levels.
Earlier this week, stars including Gary Barlow and Fearne Cotton travelled to Uganda to help deliver nets in a bid to aid the country's fight against malaria.
