HIV and Aids work needed in Bali

More needs to be done to help people with Aids and HIV in Bali, it has been claimed.

Ari Murti, an activist that works for several bodies focused on preventing HIV and Aids, told the Jakarta Post that he is pleased to see work being carried out by the authorities in developing rehabilitation centres.

However, he added that more work needs to be done.

Mr Murtin explained: "It's not enough and will not halt the spread of the infection.

"People living with HIV/Aids need access to a shelter or rehabilitation centre that provides technical assistance and psychological support to help them survive."

He added that treatment complexes in Bali are still "limited" and unable to cope with the growing number of people with HIV and Aids.

Last week, Dr Hubert Minnis, minister of health in the Bahamas, told Bahamasislandinfo.com that education is key in the battle against HIV and Aids.
