Global Fund announces Indian financial package
The Global Fund has announced a new financial package to help India fight malaria, Aids and Tuberculosis (TB).
A $279 million (£171 million) funding scheme has been approved.
Professor Michael Kazatchkine, executice director for the Global Fund, said: "I am very pleased we are able to support India in its fight against the three diseases. I hope our collaboration continues and expands, helping India to reach the health-related Millennium Development Goals."
The funding will be divided between malaria, Aids and TB, with each receiving multimillion-dollar funding to help the fight against them.
Money will be filtered through government and non-government agencies, as leaders look to reduce instances of the diseases over the next five years.
Last month, the Global Fund announced a $2.4 billion scheme to aid the research into diseases over the next two years.
The body will focus on early testing for HIV, malaria and TB, particularly in the sub-Saharan region of Africa.
