Firm gives assurance over Mosquirix cost
A medical firm has given its assurance over a potential malaria vaccine, according to a report.
Reuters claims that GlaxoSmithKline, the firm behind the treatment, has said that price will not be an issue if the medication is effective.
Andrew Witty, chief executive for the company, made the comment in relation to the Mosquirix vaccine.
He said: "We are not going to let price get in the way of access for malaria vaccines. We will be extremely responsible about the way we price this vaccine."
The vaccine is currently undergoing final-stage trials after tests on thousands of children and infants across several countries in a bid to find a solution to the disease.
Earlier this week, the United Nations launched a scheme which will see 30million specially treated mosquito nets sent to Nigeria.
The action is being taken in an effort to reduce the number of people suffering from malaria in the African nation.
