Events held for World TB Day

There will be two special events held by the Global Health Council to mark World TB Day, which takes place on Thursday, March 19th.

The first of these is World TB Day Congressional Briefings: Helping America Reduce the Global Burden of TB, which will take place at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, DC.

A "simply, stopping tuberculosis" theme is being adopted worldwide fro the event and the US is adapting this to add "partnerships for TB elimination".

Joining the Global Health Council at the event for a briefing will be the American Thoracic Society, Eli Lilly and the World Health Organisation, with all involved in developing strategy.

The other event is Tuberculosis: An Update on a Growing Threat at Home and Abroad, which also takes place in Washington on Thursday.

Various forms of TB will be discussed by speakers including Jerald Sadoff, managing director, president and chief executive of the Aeras Global TB Vaccine Foundation.
