Drogba and Bono join fight against HIV
Two of the world's top musical and sporting stars have launched a new campaign to help in the fight against HIV.
U2 frontman Bono and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba have given their backing to the Lace Up Save Lives scheme, which involves Nike and the PRODUCT RED charity organisation.
The initiative is encouraging people to buy red football boot laces, with the money generates from sales helping the fight against HIV.
Dootballers Joe Cole, Denilson, Andrei Arsharvin, Lucas Neil, Clint Dempsey, Seol Ki-Hyeon and Marco Materazzi are all also backing the scheme.
Companies such as Dell, Gap and Apple are also supporting the campaign, selling items that will help to raise money for the charity fund.
Last month, PRODUCT RED joined forces with online music search engine Shazam to produce a new app for the iPhone which will aid the fight against several diseases.
Consumers paying £2.99 for the application will see part of the charge go to the PRODUCT RED charity fund.
