Baby girl born to dead mother

A baby girl has been born to a woman two days after she died from a brain haemorrhage.

Aya Jayne Soliman was born at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after doctors kept her mother's heart beating following her death, at which time she was 25 weeks pregnant.

Delivered by caesarean section, Aya weighed just over 2lb and is now being looked after at Reading's Royal Berkshire Hospital.

Mahmoud Soliman, the baby's father, said: "It was Jayne's one true wish to be a mum. She would have been a great mum.

"In the space of 48 hours I have experienced joy at the birth of my child and endured torment over losing my wonderful wife."

Jayne Soliman collapsed on Wednesday last week (January 7th) suffering from headaches and was declared brain dead some hours later in hospital, believed to be the result of an aggressive brain tumour.

Ms Soliman, 41, was a former British international ice-skater.ADNFCR-1130-ID-18969330-ADNFCR
