Aids compendium published
A compendium of information about the neurological effects of HIV/Aids is expected to help doctors further understand and treat the virus.
More than 33 million people were living with HIV/Aids last year, according to the World Health Organization last year, many of whom do not know they are infected.
Doctors in the US hope the book, entitled The Spectrum of Neuro-Aids Disorders: Pathophysiology, Diagnosis, and Treatment, will provide a comprehensive guide for health professionals.
Editors have collated the full scope of research into the neurological and neuro-behavioural implications of HIV/Aids into a single volume.
"This book represents a compendium of knowledge that is unique to the field of neuro-Aids," said co-editor Karl Goodkin of Cedars Sinai Medical Center and the University of California Los Angeles.
Other collators included Paul Shapshak of the University of South Florida College of Medicine and Ashok Verma of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
