'No Ebola case likely' in Rwanda
Ebola is unlikely to spread from Uganda to neighbouring Rwanda, according to the country's ministry of health.
Officials stated that significant efforts had been put in place to prevent an outbreak of the deadly fever in Rwanda, and that they were closely monitoring the situation, Xinhua reported.
Confirming that no cases of the disease had yet been confirmed on Rwandan territory, ministry officials called for the Rwandan population to remain vigilant and report any information regarding a possible outbreak to local authorities.
"The population should be assured that major efforts have been put in place, in collaboration with our partners, to prevent the Ebola spill over", Michael Kramer, a health ministry official, told the website.
"But, it is also equally important for the population to continue to be on alert and share information with local authorities and medical personnel in case of any suspicion," he added.
The Ugandan government has confirmed the current Ebola outbreak has now killed 35 people, and Xinhua reported that travellers crossing the border into Rwanda are being searched and sprayed with disinfectant.
